Sub-sea Junction Box

Sub-sea Junction BoxThe pyramid shaped Sub-sea Junction Box has "wet mate" connectors and acts as the anchor for an OceanNet buoy. This component of the system can be deployed in depths greater than 10,000 feet of sea water. The Electronics Pressure Vessel (EPV) is a one atmosphere titanium tube that houses the electronics needed to collect and transmit data from all of the sensors and equipment on the ocean floor back to the buoy and on to the Ocean Net Communications Center, and ultimately back to the owner of each sensor.

Mooring and Riser Components (MRC)

Cross sections of the OceanNet Buoy Mooring and Riser cable are shown. A steel armored section is used in the upper water column while a Kevlar armored section is used between the sea floor and a master link located at about 50 meters under the water surface. Both riser sections contain a common core consisting of fibers for data transmission, and copper conductors for power transmission.
