Shipboard Equipment

MCS installs state-of-the-art equipment to provide this service. We provide global service in C-band and regional service in Ku-band frequencies with antenna sizes ranging from 1.1 m up to 4.5 m diameters. MCS shipboard equipment solutions are field proven, enabling our customers to provide their passengers top-level service.

Shipboard Installation

While shipboard installations are best performed in a shipyard with proper planning, an installation can actually take place during a single day port turnaround. In either case, our engineers work with the customer beginning with the initial site surveys and planning up through the actual installation of the equipment, system commissioning, onboard operator training, and finally the cutover to revenue-generating traffic.

COMMTROLLER 3K

MCS offers its own COMMTROLLER 3K, a computer telephony system built on client server architecture utilizing a SQL database that may be used as either a ship or office PABX, or as a shipboard least-cost routing and billing interface system. When used as a small office PABX, it is configurable up to 240 ports. When used as a least-cost routing and billing system, the COMMTROLLER 3K can interface voice trunks from the ship's PABX, switching calls out via a programmable order of mediums including C- or Ku-band satellite, Inmarsat (B, MM, M), and cellular. The COMMTROLLER 3K can be used with virtually any communication device with a two-wire interface.

For billing and call control, the COMMTROLLER 3K has multiple classes of service that may utilize PIN codes. PINs are also available for inbound as well as outbound calling.

The COMMTROLLER 3K can be interfaced via Ethernet or serial interface to the ship's Property Management System(PMS). This interface allows for automated call posting to the ship's PMS, control of passenger list in the COMMTROLLER 3K database, and PIN administration.
